Besides, we both know that if you want to get your kids to actually listen to what you’re saying, you better be pretty convincing. If you look like a deer caught in headlights when coaching your athletes, you’re not going to get much of an effort out of them.

After all, young kids have such short attention spans, if they don’t like what they’re doing, you’re going to lose them pretty quick.

Teenagers don’t want to listen to you even when they know you’re right. So if they think you’re making things up as you go along now, good luck convincing them otherwise later on.

“I have been certified NSCA - CSCS for 8 years but am a college softball coach that has to design her own programs.
